Now they got Mechwarrior back on its feet, can we get a Tie fighter up or X wing or hell BOTH!?!?!    (Looks at lucasarts...  ) monkey fucking island... dumbasses!

Fuck you man!!! Fuck you!!

Although I agree with the X Wing Vs Tie Fighter renewal.

This is awesome as long as they don't totally consolize it.  Also I don't remember Mech4 being worse than the others.  I still have the cds fro Mech4 and all the add-ons..and now it's free!  But god I really hope they don't mess this up.

Judging by that Q&A it seems like these guys really love the old MW games and want to keep it like that. I'd imagine itd be like MW4 though, cept for the mechs will probably move more slowly (as they should). And for all the people complaining about the sensors and such, you should all stop and think that even if that changes the way things used to be, dont you think that it would be a bit more strategic and add some depth to the game?

Two things that worry me about the game after reading the Q&A is that they're going to take liberties with the universe. There are no sensor drones launched from mechs. Every mech has its own sensors. Moving behind a building wouldn't hide you from sensors. I get that they're trying to make all mech classes useful, but there are other ways of doing it than forcing you to use lights because apparently heavies don't have sensors anymore.

As spooky mentioned, this is not unreasonable given the lore.  My understanding was the sensors were radar.  If this is the case a building ould definately bscure radar.

HOLY CRAP. The trailer looked sweet!

I have to admit that trailer looked freaking sweet. Perhaps Mechwarrior can be the come back kid.

I kept wondering why the Warhawk pilot ran into the smoke when he knew there was another mech comming in.

It's a Warhammer. When I first watched the video I didn't even notice that you saw the Atlas walking in before it was fully covered in smoke/dust.

As for as my take on the whole MW4 debate, it is a fun game, but a 90 ton Sunder shouldn't look like a fat guy jogging while in motion.

Mechwarrior 4 wasn't THAT bad. Two things I really enjoyed about it: The mech customization, as mentioned, actually made sense this time around. Instead of strapping LRM20s on my legs and shooting lasers out of my eyes (Okay but NOT as an Annihilator!), I could only put things on in a way that the mech was designed for. Turning a missile platform like the Catapult into a close-combat beast with LBXAC20s was just silly. I also liked the removal of instant leg kills. MW3 was more or less just 'run in circles and snipe knees'. They'd lose a leg and WHOOP it's over.

I am worred by this:

Russ Bullock: First and foremost, in this day and age and this time, we've all played the PC games in the past and absolutely loved them. But certainly going forward, just out of necessity and because we think we can, we're definitely very focused also on the Xbox 360. So we're very focused on the console standpoint moving forward.

LAME.

But hey, they're still looking for a publisher. Get on it, Stardock! And then CRUSH the console noobery.

I would LOVE to have a Masakari in the game... but I think the game is set before they came out.

I'd actually like to see this on Xbox 360, I know I'd buy it for certain.

Quick, name ONE PC GAME that managed to NOT be dumbed-down for consoles.

I'm still utterly appalled that people see any game being on a console to be a 'pro'.

The trailer made me eject my pants.

Only Supcom 2 has a higher must buy rating for me.

But as far as these things go, a sim game like this has the best chance of not getting completely screwed up. They did also mention that they're looking carefully at controls, so I really doubt we'd end up with a straight port one way or the other and that they'd just remap the 360 pad on the keyboard and call it done.

Of course the part in a game like this that suffers most is aiming controls - consoles tend to have oversized targeting reticules since the gamepad is less precise and less quick than the mouse but at the same time we're also shooting big hulking mechs so hopefully they won't feel like it'll be necessary.

Ideally, I'd like them to develop for PC *first*, and then do a console port. That really stands the best chance of coming out well..

I don't think Splinter Cells were dumbed down really... no matter the platform.

MWReboot could really work on consoles easily. To simulate mechs, you need: heat, ponderous movement, locational damage, line of sight sensors (right?), ejecting, salvage, lightspeed lasers (not SW lasers ), mech customization, did i forget something...

I don't see anything that consoles would really prevent. And controls are not a problem. 360 pad has enough buttons... and less needed stuff like Eject would easily work as button combinations.
