Lawsuit against Piranha Games?

It seems that the developers of MechWarrior (5) could get into legal troubles in the near future, because Harmony Gold is threatening with a lawsuit.

Why? Well, Harmony Gold hold the rights on the RoboTech-series (also known as Macross in Japan) and they are seeing striking similarities in in the MechWarrior 5-Mechs with their own series. It is true that the Mechwarrior-series sometimes borrowed conecpts of other Mech-series and not always the original designs. In 1996 there was a litigation after which a Mechwarrior-game is now only allowed to use own concepts and may not use concepts of the RoboTech series in any way.

Harmony Gold is critizising the new MechWarrior trailer which was released in the near past. They are saying that the shown Mech (Warhammer) is very similar to the Tomahawk Destroid of the Macross series. No further comments were given by Piranha Games or Harmony Gold when asked and Piranha Games is continuing to develop the game. It seems this was just an unnecessary threat with no follow-up.

I find that very weird. First of all, the Warhammer was present in BattleTech since the beginning. Either Harmony Gold didn't know that or they simply want to sue now, 25 years later. Secondly the Tomahawk Destroid looks a lot like a cross between an Archer and a Warhammer.
